The 1 st International Seminar on "Quality Assurance in Technical Higher Education " took place on April 9-11, 1997 in Iasi, Romania and was organized by Technical University of Iasi, together with The University of Brasov, Romania, launching a series of successful seminars and conferences. The seminar provided an opportunity for the academics and specialists in Quality Management in Higher Education to share learning and transfer best practices in quality management. The seminar was developed based on the final papers of the Tempus CME 02111-96 project with the same title.

The 2 nd International Seminar focused on the "Procedures for Quality Assurance in Technical Higher Education of Romania" took place on February 11-12, 2000 in Iasi, Romania, and was organized by Technical University of Iasi, jointly with The University of Brasov, Romania. The seminar was the final result of the Tempus CME 03613-97 project. The conference attracted the active participation of national and international academics, specialists, researches and members of the National Council for Quality Management in Higher Education from Romania.

The 1 st International Conference on "European Dimensions in Quality Assurance" took place on October 27, 2001 in Iasi, Romania. The event was a dissemination conference organized in the framework of the Tempus-PHARE project lB_JEP-14208-99 with the same title. Around 200 professionals from various Romanian organizations attended the training program developed in 2 years within the project. The conference challenged and gave the opportunity to the academics, researches and practitioners to exchange their expertise in the field of quality management and offered a framework for fostering quality improvements and organizational excellence for the higher education institutions.

The 3 rd International Seminar on Quality Management in Higher Education was also organized by “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iasi, Romania, on 14-15 June, 2004. The Seminar brought together researchers and specialists conducting research and projects in Quality Management in Higher Education, from Romania and abroad (Australia, Europe, USA). The focus was on the strategic role Quality Management Systems play in universities in order to achieve high standards of quality in higher education.
Since 2001, The Research Center in Quality Management at CETEX, Iasi has been accredited as Centre of Excellence in Quality Management by the National Accreditation Commission.

The 4 th International Seminar on Quality Management in Higher Education was organized by “Gh. Asachi” Technical University of Iasi and was hosted at Hotel Palace, Sinaia, Romania, on 9-10 June, 2006. Similar to the previous editions, the Seminar brought together researchers and specialists in Quality Management in Higher Education, from Romania and abroad and also Romanian managers interested to develop future collaborations with universities. The focus was on the strategic role Higher Education plays in the business environment development. The participants had the opportunity to develop an understanding of the quality movement in higher education, become aware of quality standards, and methods of implementing quality in higher education.
The aim of the Seminar was to disseminate quality management tools and instruments, and to connect business environment with higher education environment, in order to jointly establish the most required competences and capabilities, and to improve the quality of graduates and employees.

The 5 th International Seminar on Quality Management in Higher Education was organized by “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iasi and was held in Tulcea, Romania on 12-14 June, 2008. In 2008, there were 107 papers published in the proceedings, from 11 countries. The prime objectives of the Conference are to bring together representatives of various state and local governmental institutions, universities, small businesses, industry, associations from all over the world to debate and exchange experiences on important issues related to the quality management in higher education, and to provide a good opportunity for networking for all these groups that promote and foster the process of quality management in higher education. The international scientific committee which blind evaluated all papers for the 2008 Conference was represented by 50 international recognized specialists in the field of Quality Management in Higher Education from 16 countries.
